6. De zelfregulatie en het zelfmanagement van de patiënt bevorderen: probleemoplossingsvaardigheden

Abstract

In dit hoofdstuk wordt het bevorderen van de zelfregulatie bij de patiënt verder uitgewerkt. Daarbij wordt gekozen voor een algemeen cybernetisch procesmodel dat bestaat uit beschrijven van de gewenste situatie, waarnemen van de huidige situatie, analyseren van het verschil, uitvoeren van correctieve acties, en evalueren van het gehele proces. Daarbinnen wordt het common sense model (csm) van Leventhal toegelicht als een soortgelijk model maar met het accent op de inhoud van de ziekteopvattingen en het ziektegedrag. In dit hoofdstuk staat probleem-oplossen centraal als element in de zelfregulatie. Immers, als een ongewenste huidige toestand niet vanzelf overgaat in een gewenste toestand kan men spreken van een probleem. Probleemoplossingsvaardigheden moeten dan ingezet worden in de zelfregulatielus. Omdat bij chronisch zieken vooruitkijken extra belangrijk is wordt ook aandacht geschonken aan proactieve copingvaardigheden, dat wil zeggen probleem-voorkomende vaardigheden.
