Samenvatting

In dit hoofdstuk wordt het gynaecologisch onderzoek beschreven. Eerst wordt kort ingegaan op de anatomie van de vrouwelijke genitaliën met aandacht voor de veranderingen die de tractus genitalis van de vrouw ondergaat gedurende verschillende levensfases. Vervolgens worden de verschillende onderdelen van het gynaecologisch onderzoek – uitwendige inspectie, speculumonderzoek en bimanueel onderzoek – beschreven, waarbij belangrijke aandachtspunten bij de uitvoering van het onderzoek benoemd worden. Ook is er steeds aandacht voor het contact met de vrouw en een respectvolle benadering. Na het beschrijven van de techniek van een (deel)vaardigheid volgt telkens een bespreking van mogelijke klinische bevindingen en hun betekenis. Ook verschillende onderzoeken op indicatie, zoals fluoronderzoek en cervixuitstrijkje, komen aan bod en er wordt kort ingegaan op de rol van echografie bij een gynaecologisch consult. Afgesloten wordt met een samenvatting van de beschikbare evidence bij het gynaecologisch onderzoek uit de literatuur en een samenvatting van het gehele onderzoek.
