27. De somatische symptoom- en aanverwante stoornissen en persoonlijkheidspathologie

Samenvatting

Historisch zijn concepten rond lichamelijke klachten, persoonlijkheidspathologie en therapie vanaf het begin van de moderne psychiatrie van groot belang geweest, hoewel de verschillende concepten door de jaren heen regelmatig een andere betekenis hebben gekregen. Vanaf het begin is er een sterke relatie gevonden tussen persoonlijkheidspathologie en wat op dit moment somatische symptoom- en aanverwante stoornissen worden genoemd. Dit hoofdstuk start met een bespreking van enkele algemene begrippen, gevolgd door een bespreking in een historische context van de somatische symptoom- en aanverwante stoornissen. Dan volgt een bespreking van de associatie van de somatische symptoom- en aanverwante stoornissen met DSM-IV-TR-persoonlijkheidspathologie. Gegevens over de associatie van deze stoornissen met pathologie volgens het alternatieve DSM-5-model voor persoonlijkheidspathologie zijn nog niet voorhanden. Aansluitend volgt een overzicht van de associatie met algemene en meer specifieke persoonlijkheidsfactoren en hun veronderstelde pathogenetische betekenis. Het hoofdstuk wordt afgesloten met een beknopt overzicht van algemene behandelprincipes.
