De medicamenteuze behandeling van angststoornissen

Samenvatting

Angststoornissen behoren tot de meest voorkomende psychische stoornissen. Hiervoor zijn goede psychologische en medicamenteuze behandelingen ontwikkeld, die afzonderlijk of in combinatie toegepast kunnen worden. De selectieve serotonineheropnameremmers (ssri's) zijn de medicamenten van voorkeur bij de medicamenteuze behandeling. Dit hoofdstuk beschrijft voor elk van de angststoornissen de medicamenteuze behandelmogelijkheden. De verschillende fases van de behandeling, zoals dosisverhoging en switchen van medicament, worden beschreven. Belangrijke aandachtspunten daarbij zijn goede voorlichting over effect en bijwerkingen, het systematisch monitoren van bijwerkingen en effect op de klachten en de geleidelijke afbouw.
