De invloed van compatibiliteit tussen patiënt en behandeling op de effectiviteit van de therapeut

Samenvatting

Non-specifieke factoren (zoals de therapeutische alliantie) komen steeds meer naar voren als de belangrijkste determinanten van het succes van de therapeut. Er zijn zelfs aanwijzingen dat de specifieke factoren, die vooral bij in de tijd gelimiteerde protocollaire behandelingen een rol spelen, meer last dan gemak veroorzaken. In dit artikel bespreken we de resultaten van een post-hocanalyse van gegevens verzameld in een gerandomiseerd onderzoek naar protocollaire behandelingen voor depressie, over de invloed van de door de therapeut bereikte compatibiliteit tussen het theoretische model van de behandeling enerzijds en de ideeën van de patiënt over zijn klachten en problemen en de daarvoor in aanmerking komende benadering anderzijds. Compatibiliteit komt daarbij naar voren als een belangrijkere voorspeller van de uitkomst dan de therapeutische alliantie.
