De gezichten van licht traumatisch hersenletsel

Abstract

Hoewel een licht traumatisch hersenletsel in het algemeen wordt gezien als een goedaardig letsel dat resulteert in een restloos herstel, wordt het klinisch beeld dat bekendstaat als post-commotioneel syndroom nog altijd slecht begrepen. Recente neuropsychologische onderzoeken wijzen uit dat ook in afwezigheid van subjectieve cognitieve klachten er aanwijzingen zijn voor lichte cognitieve stoornissen. Het licht traumatisch hersenletsel zou daarmee wel eens minder onschuldig kunnen zijn dan altijd werd aangenomen.
