De effectiviteit van De Gezonde School en Genotmiddelen voor het basisonderwijs

Samenvatting

In deze studie wordt verslag gedaan van een gerandomiseerd onderzoek met controlegroep naar De Gezonde School en Genotmiddelen dat bestaat uit: (1) een lesprogramma en (2) een programma met de methode verhalend ontwerpen.
Zeven basisscholen met 251 leerlingen (M = 10.86; SD = .71; 49% jongens) deden mee. Deze scholen werden willekeurig toegewezen aan een van de experimentele condities of de controleconditie. Voor en na het programma vulden de leerlingen een vragenlijst in.
De bevindingen wezen op een toename van kennis over roken van beide interventieprogramma’s, maar op een ongunstig effect op de attitude ten opzichte van roken en de subjectief sociale norm van vrienden met betrekking tot drinken en roken. Beide interventies bleken niet significant van invloed te zijn op de zelfeffectiviteit en de intentie om te gaan drinken en roken. Ook werden er nauwelijks effecten gevonden op de opvoedingsstrategieën van de ouders.
Op grond van de bevindingen is het onduidelijk in hoeverre het programma voor kinderen in de basisschoolleeftijd potentie heeft.
