De assistent in opleiding tot uroloog krijgt niet voldoende onderwijs en training voor de behandeling van seksuele disfunctie

Samenvatting

Er is behoefte aan meer seksuologieonderwijs in de opleiding tot uroloog. Dit mag worden geconcludeerd op basis van de antwoorden op vragen die tijdens een onderwijsdag in juni 2015 werden voorgelegd aan alle op dat moment aanwezige in opleiding zijnde urologen. Het merendeel van de respondenten (58,6 %) had tot op dat moment nooit eerder onderwijs gevolgd over seksuele disfuncties. Bijna de helft (48,3 %) verklaarde over weinig kennis te beschikken en meer dan twee derde (69,4 %) gaf dan ook aan behoefte te hebben aan meer onderwijs. Een krappe meerderheid (55,2 %) achtte zich niet bekwaam om patiënten met prostaatkanker adviezen te verschaffen over de iatrogene seksuele disfuncties. Tijdsdruk (67,1 %) en het gebrek aan onderwijs (35,3 %) waren de meest genoemde redenen. Deze bevindingen wijzen erop dat het seksuologieonderwijs verbetering behoeft, in het bijzonder het onderwijs over seksuele disfuncties die aan prostaatcarcinoom zijn gerelateerd.
