40. Damage control chirurgie

Samenvatting

Damage control chirurgie is onderdeel van een bredere behandelstrategie en bestaat uit een gefaseerde aanpak van een ernstig gewonde patiënt, puur gericht op snelle levensreddende ingrepen ter controle van massaal bloedverlies en het voorkomen van (ernstige) infectieuze complicaties. De auteurs maken voor verschillende traumaletsels, bijvoorbeeld abdomen, thorax of fracturen, duidelijk hoe dit proces verloopt. Daarbij gaan zij in op etiologie, pathologie, anamnese, lichamelijk onderzoek, differentiële diagnoses, de behandeling en mogelijk (postoperatieve) complicaties. Er wordt een beslisboom voor Early Total Care (ETC) en Damage Control Orthopaedics (DCO) gepresenteerd en men verduidelijkt de indicaties voor Damage Control Surgery (DCS).
