Craniofaciale afwijkingen en articulatiestoornissen

Samenvatting

Kinderen met een gespleten lip en verhemelte kunnen resonantie-, articulatie-, stem- en taalstoornissen vertonen met mogelijk een belangrijke impact op de algemene spraakverstaanbaarheid. Articulatie blijkt, meer dan resonantie, een directe invloed te hebben op de algemene spraakverstaanbaarheid (De Bodt e.a., 2002). Prevalentiecijfers betreffende de aanwezigheid van articulatiestoornissen bij kinderen met schisis zijn schaars en zijn met grote voorzichtigheid te interpreteren, gezien de diversiteit aan methodologische concepten. Tabel 1 toont het percentage articulatiestoornissen bij kinderen en adolescenten met schisis.
