Highlights

  • 43.6% of inpatients experienced single-type maltreatment, and 27.2% faced multiple types, often within the family context.
  • 63.3% were Methamphetamine-only users; 36.7% were poly-drug users, who had higher rates of incarceration.
  • Lower education and maladaptive coping strategies were linked to increased risk of childhood maltreatment and early drug dependence.
  • Severe depression was more common among poly-drug users and those with multiple maltreatment histories.
  • Individuals with both poly-maltreatment and Meth dependence showed greater cognitive impairment.
