Cognitieve stoornissen en parkinsonisme zijn frequent voorkomende aandoeningen bij oudere patiënten met een uitgebreide, veelal multifactoriële, differentiaal diagnose. De stoornissen leiden tot sterke beperkingen in het dagelijks functioneren en hebben een sterk negatieve invloed op de kwaliteit van leven. Meestal betreft het niet-reversibele aandoeningen, echter reversibele oorzaken dienen gezien het belang van de stoornissen niet over het hoofd gezien te worden. Eén van de meest voorkomende reversibele oorzaken is medicatie. Om deze reden willen wij onderstaande patiënten onder uw aandacht brengen, die beide grotendeels reversibele cognitieve stoornissen en parkinsonisme-achtige verschijnselen ontwikkelden ten gevolge van valproïnezuur. …
