Samenvatting

Een beschrijving van de classificatie en diagnostiek van somatoforme stoornissen hoeft niet veel pagina’s te bestrijken. In de psychiatrie wordt het dsm-iv-systeem breed geaccepteerd als instrument voor classificatie en diagnostiek. Voor degenen die meer Europees zijn georiënteerd is er daarnaast het classificatiesysteem van de icd-10. Beide systemen bieden beschrijvende diagnostische criteria die met een redelijke betrouwbaarheid zijn te gebruiken. In de handboeken dsm-iv en icd-10 zijn de diagnostische criteria voor de somatoforme stoornissen eenvoudig op te zoeken (American Psychiatric Association (apa), 1994; World Health Organization (who), 1994).
