The concept of mindfulness has received a great deal of interest and attention from psychologists, science, business, sport, education, and the public in recent years. The benefits of mindfulness are increasingly supported by scientific research, and are widely recognized. It is not surprising, therefore, that a growing focus in mindfulness research and application is on how to promote and strengthen mindfulness through interventions. Although the concept of mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) is not new, the research on how to promote and consolidate mindfulness in different contexts remains dispersed. Furthermore, many questions remain on how MBIs should be structured, assessed, and tracked, over time. This book synthesizes the enormous amount of scientific research in order to address these questions. The growth and integration of mindfulness into diverse literature and application warrants this timely book. As such, this book provides critical and current insight into MBIs. It integrates issues in methods in mindfulness, developments in the effectiveness of MBIs, and definitional and cross-cultural understandings and complexities. …
