Bachman (1990) gives good coverage of the cognitive aspects of ‘construct validity’.
Bachman and Palmer (1996) is an update on Bachman 1990, but with more practical exemplification.
Messick (1989) provides a much referred to and important discussion of validity, if somewhat opaque in parts.
