Abstract

The study of human beings and their environment normally involves models and theories of different kinds. In the heart of these models and theories we find concepts, the meaning of which also influences the practice these models and theories are means for studying. The central place of the concepts in the scientific tools, together with their significance for the organization and understanding of life, constitutes a strong reason for analysis. It is then important to consider not only the meaning of individual concepts, but also the logical and empirical relations between the concepts. An analysis of the logical relations between different concepts might, for instance, render empirical investigations of these relations superfluous.
