Abstract
“Retirement is the real cause of aging.” The words of A. M. Guillemard are quoted by the French experts in stating the problems as perceived in their country. It is noteworthy that the French experts identify “activities and the use of time” as the second most important issue on a list ranging from health and provision of services to housing and income (see figure above).
