Zusammenfassung

Epidemiologische Studien zeigen, daß posttraumatische Belastungsstörungen (dt. Abkürzung: PTB; engl. Begriff: »posttraumatic stress disorder«) zu einem nicht zu vernachlässigenden Problem unserer Gesellschaft geworden sind. Betrachten wir die Zahl der Personen, die sexuellen oder anderen gewalttätigen Angriffen, technischen und Naturkatastrophen, Arbeits- und Autounfällen oder Kriegsereignissen ausgesetzt waren, dann treten bei diesen Personen traumatische Reaktionen extrem häufig auf.
