Zusammenfassung

Das generalisierte Angstsyndrom (GAS) ist möglicherweise die häufigste und am stärksten chronisch verlaufende Angststörung, aber grundlegende Untersuchungen zum GAS gibt es erst seit einigen Jahren. Dies liegt zum Teil daran, daß das GAS erstmals 1980 als Restdiagnose zu den anderen Angststörungen eingeführt wurde und seine Definition seitdem mehrmals revidiert wurde. Neuere Forschungsbemühungen haben zu einem besseren Verständnis von Wesen und Verlauf des GAS geführt, und allmählich entstehen auch wirkungsvolle Behandlungsformen. In diesem Kapitel werden sowohl die aktuellen theoretischen Modelle des GAS vorgestellt als auch spezifische therapeutische Verfahren beschrieben, die in unserem Therapiezentrum auf der Grundlage dieser Konzepte entwickelt wurden.
