Zusammenfassung
Eine amerikanische Pionierin der Ergotherapie, Gail Fiddler, erkannte das Problem klar während ihres ersten Studienpraktikums im Jahre 1944. Später schrieb sie darüber: “Die Ergotherapieabteilung genoss viel Respekt und war als wertvolle Dienstleistung für die Patienten anerkannt. Was aber fehlte — und dies störte mich —, waren Grundprinzipien für die Praxis. Man fragte sich nicht nach dem „Warum“ und stellte sich einfach nicht der Herausforderung, Hypothesen bzw. theoretische Erklärungen zu formulieren“ (Miller u. Walker 1993, S. 19).
