Abstract

General-purpose CT imaging is frequently used for noninvasive angiographic diagnosis of abdominal, thoracic and cerebral vessels where image quality is not substantially influenced by cardiac motion or vessel pulsation. However, dedicated cardiac CT acquisition techniques are needed for the diagnosis of cardiac and cardiovascular diseases where extensive cardiac motion is present. Here the major fields of interest are the diagnosis of cardiac pathology particularly with respect to coronary artery disease (CAD) and diagnosis of thoracic vessel segments that show substantial pulsation.
