Vital Functions

  • Chapter
PNF in Practice

Abstract

Therapy for the vital functions includes exercises for the face, tongue, breathing, and swallowing. Treatment of these areas is of particular importance when facial weakness, swallowing, and respiratory difficulties are involved. You can do breathing and facial exercises at any time. They are particularly useful when a patient becomes fatigued from other activities. Use breathing exercises for relaxation if the patient is tense or in pain.
