Abstract

Quite analogous to the density of axons, the density of dendrites in the cortex can be expressed as length per volume, the total length of all the dendrites contained in 1 mm3 of cortex. Here again we can start from two kinds of data, electron microscopy and Golgi preparations, and compare the results. The third method which we used in the case of axons, reduced silver staining, is not practicable for dendrites.
