Abstract
In an earlier report [1] we described how the response of experimental animals progresses through the following four stages when the intracranial pressure was gradually raised: the compensation period (stage 1), the period of reduced CBF (stage 2), the period of the vasopressor response (stage 3) and the final stage (stage 4). In this classification, stage 3 was further divided into 2 parts based mainly on changes in EEG activity. In stage 3a, the EEG activity was maintained, whereas in stage 3b it became flat.
