Zusammenfassung

Eine angeborene doppelseitige Anorchie kommt nur bei einem von 20.000 Männern vor. Die einseitige Anorchie ist etwa viermal so häufig. Vor allem vaskuläre und genetische Störungen, intrauterine Infektionen, Traumata oder teratogene Noxen werden als Ursachen für den Verlust eines oder beider Hoden diskutiert. Eine vermutete Abnormalität in der geschlechtsbestimmenden Region des Y-Chromosoms, dem SRY-Gen, konnte bisher nicht bestätigt werden (Lobacarro et al. 1993). Auch Mutationen in anderen Genen, die für die Entwicklung und den Deszensus der Testes mit verantwortlich sind, konnten bisher nicht eindeutig identifiziert werden (Vinci et al. 2004; Philibert et al. 2007). Gegenwärtig werden intrauterine Hodentorsion und genetische Faktoren als mögliche Ursachen favorisiert.
