Zusammenfassung

Beide derzeit gültigen Klassifikationssysteme (ICD-10 und DSM-IV) rechnen das Asperger-Syndrom zu den tiefgreifenden Entwicklungsstörungen.Neben den tiefgreifenden Entwicklungsstörungen unterscheiden wir noch umschriebene Entwicklungsstörungen. Während erstere die betreff ende Person in sehr umfassender Weise in ihrem gesamten Kommunikations- und Interaktionsverhalten beeinträchtigen, meist auch mit einer Intelligenzminderung einhergehen und in der Regel einen ausgeprägten Behinderungsgrad aufweisen, beziehen sich letztere lediglich auf Teilbereiche psychischer Funktionen (wie z. B. Sprechen und Sprache, schulische Fertigkeiten, motorische Funktionen), gehen in der Regel nicht mit einer Beeinträchtigung der intellektuellen Funktionen einher und weisen einen weitaus geringeren Grad der Beeinträchtigung auf als die tiefgreifenden Entwicklungsstörungen.
