Zusammenfassung
Der symbolische Interaktionismus war im 20. Jahrhundert eine der einflussreichsten Traditionen in der Sozialpsychologie und in der Soziologie. Die qualitative Forschung verdankt ihm wichtige Impulse, Grundlagen und Perspektiven. Seine Ideen und Methoden haben unser Denken und unsere Forschung massiv verändert, Disziplinen wie die Soziologie entscheidend transformiert und in der Psychologie deutlich gezeigt, dass die Grenzen zur Soziologie überschritten werden müssen, wenn das menschliche Handeln verstanden und seine Logik beschrieben werden soll: Individuum und Gesellschaft lassen sich nicht trennen.
