Abstract
In this chapter we will explore how a mentalizing team can be established in order to provide an effective community approach to severe eating disorders. An effective treatment limits the use of institutional care to patients who are very severely compromised, so that the patient can be freer to explore, with help, her or his own physical and mental state without excessive constraints and so find a way back to a healthy life. In order for front-line staff to establish relationships with patients in which they can nurture them and so help them find a way back to health, the staff themselves need to be equally supported.
