Abstract

After setting a historical context and defining primary prevention, the technologies for primary prevention are discussed within the framework of evidence-based practice.

Prevention’s technology tools embrace education, competency promotion, self-help, community organization, and systems change to reduce adolescent substance misuse. Theoretical grounded applications of these technologies are presented.
