Abstract

Cancer survivorship care presents unique challenges in delivering quality of care. Care that is informed by evidence and guidelines and that ensures timely access according to individual need is at the core of what defines a quality approach. There has been a transformation in the concept of quality of care in survivorship from a simplistic adherence to surveillance guidelines to a much more comprehensive approach that recognizes the multidisciplinary nature of care provision across a number of settings. In this chapter, we outline the current understanding around optimal approaches to quality of survivorship care that include transitions in care, care models, supports to transition effectively, as well as consideration of the late effects of a cancer diagnosis and its treatment on survivors.
