Abstract

This patient was a professionally successful man with midlife onset of severe depression without systemic illness. Psychiatric hospitalization was refused by patient and recovery attributed to skillful psychiatric treatment in collaboration with a committed spouse. Of note in this case is the medical and psychotherapeutic skill of the treating psychiatrist.
