Abstract

This chapter introduces assessments and assessment practices aligned with the strengths-based models emerging in the intellectual disability and positive psychology field. Approaches adopted in positive psychology are discussed, as are efforts in the intellectual and developmental disability field to assess strengths and positive psychological constructs to guide the development of supports to promote personal strengths, and evaluate personal growth and outcomes.
