Important persons are also mentioned. But most of all, this chapter describes the important institutions that have played a major role through the importance of family therapy to their different practices. Above all, the focus is on family counseling services and child and adolescent psychiatry, but other services like adult psychiatry are also mentioned. Attention is also given to the main trends that have influenced the field of family therapy during the decades. How international trends are taken up in the Norwegian professional contexts will make processes recognizable as an international public, but this chapter also includes the contribution of Norwegian family therapists to the international scene.
