Abstract

The ability to exercise self-control is a vital aspect of human adaptability, and fundamental to health and well-being. Problems associated with self-control deficiencies are common and are associated with diverse behavioral problems and mental disorders. This chapter focuses on the effects of mindfulness on health and mental disorders such as stress reduction , immune function , addictions, ADHD , depression and aging. We suggest that mindfulness is an interventional technique that is beneficial to health and well-being, as well as an attitude and skill that can become a health y habit and even a lifestyle.
