Abstract
Novice clinicians demonstrate a diversity of physical examination (PE) skill levels. In this chapter, we briefly name and define common domains where learners struggle with PE skills. We explore institutional and educator constraints to effectively assess physical exam skills, describe methods of identifying learners needing remediation, and describe potential tools that can be used in this process.
