Abstract

Research on resilience has hit a critical point as a consequence of the worldwide coronavirus-19 (COVID-19) pandemic. Never before has it been as important to understand the characteristics or qualities of resilience within the child, family, and environment, which provide stress hardiness and the capacity to bounce back from adversity. In this opening chapter, COVID-19 research is reviewed. The concept of resilience as a means of coping with adversity is presented and discussed. This chapter provides a framework for creating a framework for the guide posts to providing a clinical psychology of resilience. This chapter concludes with a brief overview of the current volumes, topics, and contributors.
