Relationship and Dating Violence in School-Aged Adolescents

Abstract

Sexual assault is the most common form of dating violence among adolescents in America. Over one million high school students nationwide experience some form of violence from a dating partner each year. This chapter will review the definition and prevalence of sexual, cyber, and psychological aggression in dating relationships among teens. Also examined will be the impact of this violence and research-based prevention and intervention initiatives that schools can implement to increase our children’s safety.
