Abstract

The term European American culture in this chapter refers to the middle-class values of citizens of the mainland US. The US, the world’s oldest constitutional democracy, comprises 3.5 million square miles with a population of almost 324 million people. The European American (American) culture evolved from those of early immigrants, primarily from Northern European countries. Today, the US includes immigrants or descendants of immigrants from almost every nation and culture of the world.
