Abstract

After the initial PCIT evaluation and feedback have been completed, parents are asked to attend a “teaching” session in which the therapist introduces the family to the basic skills of behavioral play therapy. Because a great deal of information is shared and it is important to have the parents’ undivided attention, we request that parents arrange for child care during this session. Most often, the teaching session lasts approximately 90 minutes to allow for the many questions that arise in response to the material presented (see Table 3-1).
