Overview
This final chapter is an integrative summary of the major themes contained within this volume. As mentioned in the preface, the chapter authors are among the leading experts in the field of traumatic stress. State of the art research, clinical work, and teaching concerning trauma are their “daily bread.” Therefore, the ideas and issues that have been raised provide an excellent sampling of where the field of traumatic stress is at today. We are also interested in where the field of traumatic stress will be, particularly in terms of clinical practice, in the future. With the future in mind, we summarize issues from the previous chapters with a special emphasis on clinical practice.
