Abstract

Part II of this book deals with the institutional aspects of majority-minority relations: economic life, political and legal processes, family structures and intermarriage, religious institutions, and education. Chapters 9 and 10 consider the roles of minorities in the American economy. Since we cannot include all racial and cultural minorities in the United States in this segment of the book, the focus here is mainly on the four groups who are most disadvantaged: Blacks, Mexican Americans, Puerto Ricans, and Native Americans.
