Abstract
The use of the word bond to describe the mother—infant relationship—long out of fashion and still viewed negatively by most psychologists—has been resumed of late, in reference to what some investigators presume to be happening when mother and infant are brought into contact during the first few postnatal days (Klaus & Kennell, 1976).
