Abstract
Our experimental investigation of inner speech and its role in the processes of intellectual activity demonstrates that to some degree inner speech manifests itself not only in verbal-conceptual but also in concrete thinking, as well as in the processes of perception, memorization, and reproduction of verbal and graphic-pictorial material. This was revealed by motor speech interference experiments, where inner speech was temporarily blocked by interference, and by the electromyographic studies of concealed motor speech reactions recorded when subjects were engaged in solving intellectual problems of various types.
