Abstract
In classical neurology, the syndromes of disturbances of the higher cortical functions accompanying local brain lesions were subdivided into three main independent groups: agnosia, apraxia, and aphasia. To these were added the more specialized disorders of alexia, agraphia, acalculia, amusia, etc.
