Abstract
Brain illness can affect the intensity of emotional experience and the ability to communicate emotions. These functions may be diminished or increased (see Table 2.2, p. 28), and these changes may be seen in combination. Brain illness can also disinhibit the expression of experienced emotion. Cognitive impairments may change how events are interpreted and the types of emotions experienced.
