Developmental Behavioral Genetics

  • Chapter
Handbook of Developmental Psychopathology

Abstract

Since the previous edition of this volume (Plomin, Nitz, & Rowe, 1990), there have been significant advances in our understanding of genetic influences on psychopathology. Gains are notable not only in our understanding of which dimensions of behavioral and emotional disturbance are under genetic influence, but also in our understanding of how genetic influences operate in the development of psychopathology. In tandem with those advances is progress in conceptualizing environmental risk and protective factors.
