Part of the book series: Issues in Women’s Health ((WOHI))

Abstract

The goal of this chapter is to provide the reader with an analysis of the role of culture on women’s sexuality and sexual health in the United States. Due to the growing diversity of the U.S. population (U.S. Bureau of the Census, 1999) and the epidemiology of sexual health problems, there is a great need for information that can assist public health practitioners in understanding cultural factors that play a role in women’s sexual health.
