Abstract
The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) of the American Psychiatric Association (APA) is the primary source for diagnostic classification in the United States. The DSM provides standard criteria for the diagnosis and classification of mental disorders and is used extensively by clinicians, researchers, government agencies, managed care companies, and pharmaceutical companies in the United States and in other countries (APA, 2000).
