Abstract
The focus in this chapter is on the joint occurrence of delinquent behavior, alcohol and illicit drug use, and mental health problems. In this analysis we employ the delinquent and alcohol, drug, and mental health (ADM) problem typologies described earlier in Chapter 1. As in Chapter 2, the data presented in the figures and tables are for the years 1976, 1980, and 1983 and whenever these years’ data do not fairly reflect the patterns of prevalence and general offending rates for all six of the study years, this observation will be noted. Data are first presented for the delinquency, drug use, and mental health problem types considered separately, then for the combined problem types.
