Abstract
Fads occur in all sciences. Clinical psychology is no exception. Within clinical psychology, topics such as behavior modification, personality testing with the MMPI, client-centered therapy, and research on hypnosis were at one time appropriately considered fads. Nonetheless, these areas have managed to sustain interest beyond faddism and have introduced a corpus of knowledge that has had a substantial effect on the field of clinical psychology.
